  Guests Instructions

Welcome to 1000 Night Camp. To enjoy your experience to the fullest, we highly recommend careful reading the tips below

  1. Wahiba Sand occupies about 12000 km2 of the Sultanate of Oman. It was named after a big Bedouin tribe in the area called ‘Wahiba.’ The Wahiba sand is edged by the Arabian Sea from the South and ‘Hajar Sharqi’ mountains from the North. Every night, ‘Kos’ wind, as called locally, blows at night carrying sands. It blows strongly in the summer and less intensely in the winter. Usually, it lasts for two hours.
  2. Electricity in the camp is powered by generators that work from 9:00 am until 11:00 pm. occasionally, this time is extended for necessities.
  3. All electric devices will stop working when electric generators stop at 11:00pm, including cell phone station. The camp will not be responsible for any damage that occurs to your electric devices as a result of power shut down.
  4. The camp is sprayed periodically to protect it from desert insects. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee full termination of insects. We would highly recommend wearing shoes and looking after children against insects bites. There is a car available for any medical emergencies and a first aid box available upon request.
  5. A free Wi-Fi is available in the camp; however, it is slow due to distance from service centres. It is suitable for checking e-mails but not for fast browsing. Net coverage is available in the restaurant area, the swimming pool, the reception and some tents. Laptop & printer located at the restaurant area for free of charge.
  6. If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact the camp manager on (99448158). Late at night, please head to the staff residence to be assisted.
  7. Because the desert is such a quiet and peaceful place, sound travels with ease at night. We urge you to converse quietly. Switching on loud electric devices is prohibited after 10:30 pm.
  8. For guests who choose to bring alcohol to the camp, we advice them to drink responsibly and refrain from being loud. The camp may resort to legal actions if these instructions are not followed.
  9. We recommend wearing decent clothes for men and women when walking around in the camp. Swimming wears are allowed only near the swimming pool area.
  10. Candles are available in tents. We advise you to handle them with care and to put them off before going to sleep.
  11. Smoking is not allowed inside tents.
  12. There is fire cylinder Distributed around the camp. We advise you to locate the nearest one to your tent before residing.
  13. It is advisable to bring a torch and clothes suitable for the cold weather at night.
  14. If you want any additional services arranged by the camp, we recommend early contact upon arrival to best accommodate for your needs.
  15. Camels and horses are trained and usually friendly to people. However, the camp doesn’t bear any responsibility in case of misfortunate accidents.
  16. We urge you to drive consciously across the desert in order not to harm the rare desert plantation. Please drive on ways that have been already crossed by cars even if following a guide. We would also recommend driving away from Bedouin camps so that their animals are not disturbed.
  17. Some guides, despite warnings from the camp, choose to drink at night. This affect their ability to drive in the morning. Please be alert to that and report abuse.
  18. We urge you to handle room equipment with care. You will be financially responsible for any damage to the rooms/tents during your stay.
  19. If you need a prayer mat, please contact reception.
  20. If you wish to go around outside the camp, please contact the reception with your expected arrival time. Remember that you are in the desert, and getting lost is a possibility.
  21. Please keep an eye on your kids and make sure that you know where they are.
  22. Tea and coffee come with compliments. If you wish to have tea or coffee after power shut down, make sure to fill your thermos in advance with hot water.
  23. We would like to inform you that the camp supports the local community and doesn’t take any percentage off products sold by Bedouins or camels rides.
  24. These instructions will be available at every tent and it is the tourist responsibility to read it.
  25. There is a parking lot for guests with special needs. There is also a tent especially prepared to accommodate for their needs.
  26. Thank you for switching off lights before leaving your tents or going to bed.
  27. All of our prices are fixed and we highly recommend keeping your bill for any services you had.

For the Sand House:
  1. Our guests can have their own grills in the balcony. If they need instructions, they can contact reception. Please take care of your safety.
  2. Kitchen wares are available in the cupboard below the outside sink.
  3. We can arrange for having breakfast in your own balcony. Our staff will bring breakfast equipment and you can cook with your family or friends. We will charge you 25 OMR for this extra service.
  4. ‘Kos’ wind blows at night. We recommend making sure that the windows are closed well during ‘Kos’.
  5. Please make sure that your children are not on their own in the balcony area. The camp will not bear any responsibility for any unfortunate accidents.
  6. There is a water heater in your house. To enjoy a warm shower in the morning, keep the heater open at night so that the water is still warm in the morning.
  7. For more privacy, room and bathroom windows are reflective so no one can see you when you have shower during day time.
  8. For privacy at night, please pull down the curtains. Please note that loud voices and lights attract desert insects (that are not poisonous).
  9. You can have romantic lightening by rekindling candles and enjoying the stars at night.
  10. Bathroom water pressure is connected to electricity generators. You will still get water when power is shut down, but with low pressure.
  11. Your house is up a hill and music can be heard easily across the camp. Please put that in mind before turning on loud music.
